Permanently Restore Missing Teeth

Dental Implants In Long Island City & Queensboro

If you’re missing one or more of your natural teeth in Long Island City or Queensboro, dental implants from Dr. Adrian Lau are the best way to restore your bite, your smile, and your self-confidence. Learn more below, and contact us to schedule an implant consultation at BORO Dental Arts right away.

What Are Single-Tooth Implants?

Single-tooth implants are the most common type of implant. They use one surgically-implanted “post” made of titanium, which is designed to bond permanently with your jaw bone and gum tissue. This post is then “capped” with a dental crown (false tooth).

This two-part design mimics the natural structure of a tooth. The implant functions as a false root, while the crown functions as a false tooth. Because of this, single-tooth implants look very natural, never move, and can last more than 30+ years with proper care, making them the best way to replace a missing tooth in Long Island City.

Implant Placements, Restorations & Maintenance

At BORO Dental Arts, we handle the entire process of dental implants, including initial surgical placement of implants, restorations of implants using dental crowns, and routine maintenance during your six-month visits to our office.

By handling the entire process in-house, we ensure you get only the best, most consistent care, and are thrilled with your new smile after your implants have been placed.

The Dental Implant Process

After Dr. Lau has confirmed that you’re a good candidate for implants, she will take x-rays and images of your mouth, and begin planning your implant surgery. On the day of your surgery, you'll come into our office and your mouth will be cleaned and numbed. You can also be sedated, if you wish.

Then, Dr. Lau will create an opening in your gums and jaw bone, and place your dental implant, cleaning and suturing the area after placement to encourage proper healing. This process will be repeated if you’re getting multiple implants.

You’ll get instructions on how to care for your implants, and will be sent home to heal. Initial healing takes 2-3 weeks, but it takes 3-6 months for your implants to integrate with your jaw bone. You’ll come back for a few consultations and checkups during this time.

During your checkups, Dr. Lau will make sure your mouth is healing properly. She will also begin taking impressions and measurements of your implant to build your dental crown, with the help of a dental lab.

After your mouth is fully healed and your restoration has been built, you’ll come to our office one last time. Dr. Lau will check the fit of your crown, then bond it in place permanently, completing the procedure.

Aftercare For Dental Implants

Once your single-tooth implant has been completed, all you need to do to keep it healthy is brush twice a day and floss once a day. You can treat it just like a natural tooth! Of course, you should also come to BORO Dental Arts for six-month appointments with Dr. Lau, who will clean your teeth and your implant to ensure you maintain great oral health.

Are Dental Implants Right For Me?

If your mouth is healthy but you’re missing one or more natural teeth, implants are a great option for you, and offer a number of great benefits compared to alternatives like dental bridges and partial dentures. To see if you’re a good candidate, just contact BORO Dental Arts for a consultation with Dr. Adrian Lau right away.
